I'm actually ready!!!

I can't believe that the Holiday season is here already, but this year feels drastically different. I'm actually excited about the season! I haven't really felt like celebrating the holiday's for the last few years, and I blame a big deal of it on my retail job. It really did drain me of any magical feelings I held for the holiday's. This year I find myself listening to Christmas music and not gagging, watching the old movies and not having the desire to roll my eyes and turning them off.

The last few years I worked at Toys R Us and I dreaded the Christmas season, I don't know what it is about this time of year that makes people so angry and disrespectful. The attitudes of customers really seemed to determine my mood, I worked long hours, was underpayed, and just over-all was not in the Holiday spirit. It amazes me how hateful people can be this time of year, especially when it comes to their shopping! Everytime I go into a store I try and be as pleasent as possible, even though the clerks and other associates may not be.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm just excited, excited to see family and just spend time with them. That's all I really want for Christmas, the preasents are just a nice bonus :). HAPPY HOLIDAY'S EVERYONE!

No...I don't have a problem!

So, maybe I do need some help! Anyone who knows me knows that I have a rather um....large rubber duckie collection and I'm very proud of it and always looking for more. So I've decided to show off some pictures of my hobby, and just to let you all know...I still have about 2 more boxes of rubber ducks that aren't even displayed (no room). But they do seem to be everywhere! Even in my car!!! I've even had rubber duck themed birthday's thanks to my friends in Columbia!

And a Farewell duck cake from my co-workers at Toys R Us!!!

I've accepted, and how about you?

So my sister and sister-in-law both put down the 6th pic from the 6th file on a blog and told a story about it. So here is mine, this pic is from about 2 years ago when my youngest nephew was still a baby. We are at church with his older brother Grant, my dad and my sister Andi, aren't they cute!

Rambled Filler

So, my life hasn't been too eventful lately, or so it would seem. I've been working, eating, sleeping, and driving in my new car...but that's pretty much my life. Anyway over the weekend I went to Columbia to celebrate one of my bestest friends birthday (Andrea's). It was fun we did our usual dinner, movie and shopping. It was good to be able to splurge off the diet!

Sunday I hung out with some old co-workers from Toys R Us and they invited me to a pagan festival in Columbia. Since I didn't know too much about the belief system and am almost always willing to learn new things I went. While looking around at some of the booths we noticed this man walking around with this adorable beagle. But as I looked closer I noticed the dog was nothing but skin and bones...you could see the dogs ribs and he had sores on his back.

I became furious and started biting my nails as too not say anything, maybe the guy had just rescued the dog but doubtful. Anyway the guy happened to buy something from one of the booths and so they had his name and information. I went to the booth and talked to the nice people running it and they agreed with me and proceeded to give me a copy of his information. After leaving the festivities we stopped by the humane shelter and asked them to just make a stop by the listed house and make sure that everything was ok (seeing how we weren't 100% sure what the situation was, we just knew what we saw). They said they would get right on it and hopefully it turned out for the better.

The festival itself was um....interesting. I learned a little more about how different people's beliefs can be, and how unaccepting some people are. Another individual was handing out Christian pamphlets at the event and saw our group and told us we were sinners and going to hell. That statement didn't go over too well with me, and I wanted to stand up for my friends. I politely told the person that we would defiantly see him their because it states in the Bible that passing judgement is a sin and that was exactly what he was doing!

I guess I just don't understand how people can claim to be "Christian" yet be so judgemental. I know what I believe and to me it's the truth, and other people in the world have their own belief and to them it's true. It isn't for any one person or group of people to say that another group is wrong. I don't know...just got me really thinking about all the different church's and things in the world, and some are as different as the people in the congregation, but to me they all should have the same basis...Love and Respect.

My first major purchase....and it scares the crap out of me!

So I finally broke down and bought a new(ish) car yesterday. Its a 2007 Hyandi Elantra. It's a nice car, but just that major of a purchase scares me, maybe because it's my first major purchase, I'm not sure. But I took some pictures so you all can enjoy! Also, I need help naming the car...my last car was named Rhonda. The car sales guy said I should name it Mertle or Matilda...it doesn't look like it fits either one of those names.

See...Pretty!!! It's not a very good picture of the sunroof...but it's their!

Don't know if you can see the milege but it's a little over 2,000

Remembering History and then some

So I was watching television today after church and a movie was on, so the parental unit and I sat down to watch it. The movie was United 93, about the plane that crashed in the field on 9/11, and it got me to thinking about all the history that I have lived through, and the history that my parents have lived through and especially the history that Susie has lived through. 9/11 was such a tragic day in history, and it's hard to think of it as a part of history because...hey I lived during that. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard about the attacks and during the rest of the day. It was early in my senior year that 9/11occurred. I barely remember the attack on the Towers in 93', but mainly just remember hearing my parents talk about it. Since I have been born I have lived through 4 soon to be 5 presidents, including 3 impeachments, 5 prophets, many many many olympic games, OJ Simpson Trials, 9/11, rising gas prices, several floods, hurricanes, etc etc etc. Just makes me in a thoughtful mood I guess.

Ok, so here is the Sarah Life Update! I am no longer in school, I ended up dropping this semester due to the fact that I took a job at the Hospital as a Medical Clerk and the hours weren't good with school. I quit Swiss Colony but gave them plenty of notice (just in case I need them to fall back on). I'm excited about this hospital job, can you say BENIFITS!!! I don't know what I'll end up doing about school, probably try and take an online class or something. I am teaching in Primary now, the 4-5 year olds...well more like the 4-7 year olds because they don't have enough teachers so I had 8 kids in my class today and everyone else's class had 1-4 kids...YUCK! My class was soo bad last week, but I came up with some class rules that I told them I expect them to follow inside and outside of the classroom. As long as they follow the rules they get to put up a sticker for the week and after 4 stickers they get a treat. The kids like this idea and they were much more reverent this week. My class actually set a good example for the older kids, especially when they walked out of class to singing time and they all had their arms folded and they went straight to their chairs. I was extremely proud, now if I could get one of my kids to stop bringing his toys to Primary we would be just fine. Well, that's the extent of my life thus far, more to come!

The New News!

Ok boys and girls, so here is what's been going on with me. I started a new job on Aug. 5 at Swiss Colony in the call center; my job title is "payment specialist" ewwwww...awwww...I'm pretty much a bill collector and people hate me!!! YEAH FOR HATING ME!!! I took a running total of how many swear words I hear in a normal work day and I counted 37. For my job, I consider that a lot, mainly for one reason, I'm not the one calling these people harrassing them about their bill. They have to call us to make a payment! Though some lady really made my day yesterday by telling me to have a Jesus filled day (whatever that truly means.)

I also started school yesterday, YUCK...MATH!!! I pretty much sat in class and had a dumbfounded look on my face. Also, the desks that were in the classroom...NOT MEANT FOR FAT PEOPLE and they should put that on the desks. I sat down and litterally could not breathe. And yes, I know that this should tell me something (hey fatso...drop some poundage), but until that happens work with me people!!! I went up to the main desk at school and requested a fat person sized desk. It's bad enough I don't understand math, but to not be able to breath due to the fact that I am trying to squeeze into a itty bitty desk just won't do. So the people at the front desk were very friendly and got me and one other person a fat person sized desk so we could be more comfortable during the semester (now if I just understood what was on the board). Anyway people...that's my life in a nutshell...hopefully some pictures will come soon!

The Human Race is LAZY!!!

Hey everyone, check out this website http://health.yahoo.com/news/ap/sci_exercise_pill.html

It talks about how someone has invented this pill that is suppose to have the same affect as exercise, just without the sweat. And to this I say...GET OFF YOUR TOOSH AND GO WORK OUT!!! Granted I am a lazy individual too, but I know the successful way to lose weight is to eat healthy and exercise...not to depend on some so called "miracle pill" that will have the same effect. I don't believe that a pill has the same effect as good ol' exercise; exercise just does so much for the human body, especially if done right and is something you enjoy. Exercise creates endorphins...endorphins make you happy!!! Now go eat a cheeseburger and walk around the track a few times!!!

My Bucket List

So I went to see the movie "The Bucket List" with my sister Andi when it was in the theatres a while ago and it got me to thinking....what kinds of things do I want to do or accomplish before I so to speak "kick the bucket." I guess a lot has to do with traveling and things of that nature...but I think it is a good list, so...here goes and in no particular order!

  1. Learn everything I can--already working on this by going to school, reading a ton, that sort of thing.
  2. Teach something
  3. Let the people I love know that I love them and let them love me in return
  4. See the world! This may seem like a huge undertaking both financially and time wise...but it doesn't have to be going to the actual location, I can see the world by going to museums, reading about locations and their history...etc etc etc
  5. Travel to the places I've always wanted to see (New York City at Christmas, Florida, London, Montana/Wyoming for the nature things, Austria.)
  6. See a Broadway Show in New York
  7. Loose Weight and maintain that weight

I'm a Fat Girl, what's your excuse?

So, I'm a bigger person as most of the readers of this blog know. I was looking through a catalog last night and realized I hated everything that the catalog had to offer for the bigger figure. And I say to these designers....Just because I am the size of a small tent doesn't mean I need to look like one! Also, clothes that are solid bright colors only attract attention, not pull away. Big can be beautiful, look at Queen Latifah, she is a large woman and she dresses VERY well for her size. Also, not each body type is the same, so what fits one person doesn't fit another in the same places. My friend Michelle is a larger body type, but has a smaller bust. It seems like designer think that just because you are larger than you are larger all over...this isn't the case at all. Maybe I should become a designer?!?!

And The Rest....

Ok...so here is the rest of the pictures and stuff!

It's a Beautiful Day

My sister Brenda and I hung out a couple of weeks ago and we did A LOT of stuff. We went out to lunch at a pretty nice restaurant. From their we went to a Family Dollar and picked up some art supplies and took them to Forrest Park and painted/colored pictures in front of the Art Museum. I then needed to use the restroom so we went into the museum and looked around. From the art museum we drove over to the zoo to look at the new penguin exhibit....pretty cool. From the zoo we went to the pond...lake...whatever and rented a paddleboat and paddleboated around for an hour. We then went to get some dinner and that was the extent of our day! Here are some pictures. ENJOY!!!

I love this one the most because it just looks like Brenda is so tired from the sun and paddling the boat!!!

This Picture I took just outside the art musuem when we were coloring pictures....I was trying to be artsy!!!

This is Brenda outside of the art Musuem working on her masterpiece!

Still Venting...I must have a lot of anger!

So...the drama with my old roommate has subsided for the moment, but now it is my parents that are driving me nuts. I guess it is asking too much to just want my own space in this house. My room isn't even my room...my mom makes me feel guitly for having anything out of place or out of my room. I haven't quite finished unpacking or taking everything up to the room yet, but I've been looking for a job which according to my parents I'm not even doing right or spending enough time on. The parental unit believes that I should spend the equivalent of a full time job filling out applications, but if I sit at home and fill out applications on the computer, I've completely wasted my day. But most of the jobs in the job market you have to fill out applications online anyway. I will probably be going to Columbia tomorrow just to get away...don't really care what the parental units say about that one...it's either I go...or I go for good meaning I will move out the second I get everything packed up. I know that wouldn't really fix anything either, it just means I'm running away from my problems, but huh...where did I learn that from?!?!?!

Ghost Hunters

For New Years Eve my sister and I went Ghost Hunting!!! We looked up the most haunted places in St. Louis and we visited a few of them. It was pretty funny! So here is what we came up with, enjoy!

This is the Lemp Mansion, it is supposidly one of the most haunted buildings in St. Louis. Their have been reported electrical surges, cold spots, someone taping you on the shoulder (and no one is their). The piano even plays in the night with no one being present except a staff member. To read about the story go to http://www.legendsofamerica.com/MO-LempMansion.html

This picture is Roosevelt High School - Rumors of the school being built on a cemetery, the forth floor is off limits, when they built it, they did so over a cemetery and only moved the headstones. Bones surface on the football field and a grave collapsed in the front lawn and they had to fill it in. If you look close, it appears that a few people are sitting in the stands, waiting for a game!!! Another funny story to go with this, I was taking this picture and right across the street this guy was breaking into a car. He saw my camera and took off!!!

And this church just looked really creepy, I don't think it is haunted....then again....what is that in the window!!!

All I wanted for Christmas....I got!!!

This is one of my four nephews on the Sunday before Christmas. Can you tell I am a proud Aunt!!!! Anyway, it is January 1st of a new year, so I decided that since it seemed that everyone else in my family had a blog, I should too.
With the start of a new year brings the start of new resolutions and trying to live a "new" or better life. This got me to thinking about my past resolutions and failed attempts at loosing weight, being a better student, finding a different job, etc. This year I am determined to get my life at least one step closer to where I want it. Instead of continuing my long list of resolutions to the new year, I will resolve that if I can work towards all of the following and at least succed at one of them, then I won't be a failure. Even if it is just changing jobs. Anyway, I guess that is enough rambing for now. Hopefully more later.
