So, my life hasn't been too eventful lately, or so it would seem. I've been working, eating, sleeping, and driving in my new car...but that's pretty much my life. Anyway over the weekend I went to Columbia to celebrate one of my bestest friends birthday (Andrea's). It was fun we did our usual dinner, movie and shopping. It was good to be able to splurge off the diet!
Sunday I hung out with some old co-workers from Toys R Us and they invited me to a pagan festival in Columbia. Since I didn't know too much about the belief system and am almost always willing to learn new things I went. While looking around at some of the booths we noticed this man walking around with this adorable beagle. But as I looked closer I noticed the dog was nothing but skin and bones...you could see the dogs ribs and he had sores on his back.
I became furious and started biting my nails as too not say anything, maybe the guy had just rescued the dog but doubtful. Anyway the guy happened to buy something from one of the booths and so they had his name and information. I went to the booth and talked to the nice people running it and they agreed with me and proceeded to give me a copy of his information. After leaving the festivities we stopped by the humane shelter and asked them to just make a stop by the listed house and make sure that everything was ok (seeing how we weren't 100% sure what the situation was, we just knew what we saw). They said they would get right on it and hopefully it turned out for the better.
The festival itself was um....interesting. I learned a little more about how different people's beliefs can be, and how unaccepting some people are. Another individual was handing out Christian pamphlets at the event and saw our group and told us we were sinners and going to hell. That statement didn't go over too well with me, and I wanted to stand up for my friends. I politely told the person that we would defiantly see him their because it states in the Bible that passing judgement is a sin and that was exactly what he was doing!
I guess I just don't understand how people can claim to be "Christian" yet be so judgemental. I know what I believe and to me it's the truth, and other people in the world have their own belief and to them it's true. It isn't for any one person or group of people to say that another group is wrong. I don't know...just got me really thinking about all the different church's and things in the world, and some are as different as the people in the congregation, but to me they all should have the same basis...Love and Respect.
